Announces New Facility

Cooperative classes to bridge temporary closing
Why did we close after just opening?

August, 2006 — The Board of Directors announced that a new facility for WSC is being incorporated into a multi-use complex being planned in Deale, Maryland — about 25 minutes from SE Washington.

Some of the equipment will remain in storage until the new facility is completed in 18-24 months (sometime in 2007). However, many of our artists will take their classes and their passions on the road. WSC is currently in discussions with organizations in the Metro Area who have expressed great interest in hosting classes until our new school opens.

Beginning in Fall 2007, classes in stone carving, clay sculpting, stained glass, beadmaking and mosaics are expected to be offered, as well as a possible new class or two. Specific information (locations, dates, and times) will be announced on this site as it becomes available. In addition, our newsletter will go out periodically informing everyong of the progress (to signup).

We were very excited and committed to the old site, but were forced out due to eminent domain which demolished our building to make room for a baseball stadium (The Nationals).

However, we expect that our new facilities, when completed, will be even more wonderful and serve the community as we have envisioned.
